- חִילּוּי, חִלּ׳m. (חָלָה, Pi.) sweetening, softening; trnsf. entreaty, ḥilluy, one of the expressions for prayer (v. זְעָקָה. Ex. R. s. 43 (ref. to ויחל, Ex. 32:11) לשון ח׳ it means sweetening.Yalk. Deut. 811; Yalk. Sam. 157; (Sifré Deut. s. 26 חילול, corr. acc.).
